Apples Future Marketshare

Joshua Wood Joshua Wood Profile: Joshua Wood

Hi all, the Apple machine is just getting started by most accounts. While there are some that would count them out already there are others that looking more closely at the competition and their piece of the tablet and smartphone market. Take for instance the article linked to below by Forbes where they take a more comprehensive look at the market and where the money is going. Their analysis is interesting because they outline the many revenue streams that Apple is able to capture. The Android market is more fragmented and is harder to track and control. That has led to many vendors fighting over the cents while Apple racks in dollars.

Further to that thought consider the article about Apple effect on desktop/laptop sales. One wouldn’t have thought that Apple could wrestle even a sliver of the market share that Microsoft has away from the many hardware and software vendors. However it does seem that Apple has made a difference in the sales of Windows 8. Then Apple has just opened up the Chinese market.

Consider that Apple is just now starting to compete in many markets that others consider entrenched. Also, this quote from the Forbes article that says, “only 47% of Android users expect to buy another Android device and 42% expect to buy an iPhone”. That is a telling because 42% of Android users are considering iPhones. Then consider this comment, “84% of iPhone users will repurchase an iPhone compared to just 60% who would repurchase an Android phone”. User satisfaction is key to long term growth. Apple has won that area as well. The next will be a wild one for sure.
