Why a virtualized environment is safer?

Answer  In the master's thesis I'm doing, I propose a security model based on virtualization. I have read about virtualization and I've found that a virtualized environment has also suffered many attacks. So I question whether a virtualized environment is safer than a virtualized environment without.

Backing up entire virtual machines.

Answer  I want to backup all my virtual machines, as a whole. Not just files on a virtual machine, I want to grab the whole virtual machine. Is there a way to automate this? I have about 10 virtual servers, each has between 2-5 virtual machines running. I am using Hyper-V
