Tachyum’s flagship product codenamed Prodigy is the world’s first Universal Processor. The progress of its development is on track. Basically, with its high performance and ultra-low power consumption, Prodigy offers industry-leading performance for data center, AI, and HPC workloads. These exceptional properties gel well with 5G. That means Prodigy promises to bring a paradigm shift for telecom industry players. It will bring AI from cell tower mounted data centers to power intelligent IoT devices and autonomous systems. Tachyum plans to release a 7nm tapeout next year. And its volume production will begin in 2021. It is important to understand that Tachyum’s Prodigy Universal Processor Chip is the world’s smallest and fastest general-purpose 64-core processor developed till date. Amazingly it requires 10x less processor power and reduces processor cost by 3x.

Tachyum’s immediate plans include enabling a 32-Tensor Exaflop supercomputer as well as build machines that are more powerful than the human brain by 2021. It is a great feat that Tachyum is going to achieve years ahead of industry expectations. Prodigy ensures the reduction of data center TCO (annual total cost of ownership) by 4x with the help of its disruptive processor design and a smart compiler that is going to make many parts of the hardware found in typical processor redundant. All this results in fewer transistors, fewer and shorter wires, because of smaller & simpler core translating into much higher speed and power efficiency for the Prodigy processor.
