GDPR Compliance Becomes Important for all UK-based organizations. It is a mandate now for all organizations to comply with GDPR in order to stay within the law. IT Governance is among the pioneers in providing cyber security and data protection services. The firm guides all UK-based organizations to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The initiation of this whole exercise comes from Karen Bradley MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. She regulates that the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply in the UK.

In addition, Elizabeth Denham, Information Commissioner welcomes this announcement by saying, “One of the key drivers for data protection change is the importance and continuing evolution of the digital economy in the UK and around the world. That is why both the ICO and UK government have pushed for reform of the EU law for several years.”

Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive of IT Governance, says “With the government confirming the GDPR will apply to the UK, organizations need to prioritize GDPR compliance to avoid the possible fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover and the threat of a lawsuit from aggrieved data subjects.” He further adds, “Boards should be concerned about these risks, put GDPR compliance at the top of their agendas and push for adequate technical, administrative and operational security measures in line with the GDPR requirements”.

GDPR Compliance Becomes Important

As a matter of fact, the GDPR is about to become law within next 18 months. That is why the organizations around the world that directly or indirectly collect and process data on European residents will have to comply with the Regulation.
