Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

To provide a proper answer, we’d need to know what kind of Zebra printer it is, how it is connected to your network, how the spooled file is structured and possibly a number of other items. We don’t know yet if the specific printer is even capable of being controlled by anything but Windows.

You know the printer, the network and how the spooled file was created, which includes possible printer control data embedded in the data stream.

IBM supplies basic information for all types of printers that are known to be used for AS/400s. You should begin by a review of <a href=”https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1ccf052269288d640862569c1006cd157″>Information on Printers from Zebra/Eltron</a>. You will probably have more specific questions after that.

This is, I believe, a label printer. It requires certain escape codes -- see owners manual. Often it is coupled with TL Ashford software. Phil

Thank you. Zebra label printer connected via IP Address. I need to print existing RPG program, which prints UPS labels, to print through Zebra now. I created outq and loaded ZPL file to AS/400. I don't know how to get to this ZPL file variable information for address labels. Thank you.

We had success by stringing together the ZPL commands and data in one string. For example, zplcmd1IT Knowledge Exchangezplcmd2Websitezplcmd3 If memory server there is a special character that preceeds the ZPL command to distinguish it from data. Recommend not making separate fields for your data. Try using one field of 80 or more characters. You can break up the string as you like because the label only prints after you give it the print command. That means you can lay down your data in any sequence you want. It just all needs to be written to the print file before your ZPL print command.
