Microsoft Word and Excel documents don’t open in Windows 10

I recently updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10; and Word and Excel 2010 to 2013. I have Word and Excel in the Task Bar (as before) and was able to Right Click and (Pinned or not) open any previous document there.
Now (in Windows 10 and Office 2013) they show there but they do not open—even documents created in Word and/or Excel 2013.
Word and Excel starts, but do not open the document!
How do I solve this?

To fix this problem you have to install an
Office 2013 update. Check out the following link

Check the file path of the short cuts. Saw an occassion where on OS upgrade make a slight modification to the file structure but not in the short cuts. So the short cuts didn't work. May not be your issue, but worth a look.

Make sure the saved files are in the correct location. If location is OK, try to open them in 2013 safe mode. However, it is not a solution, but you can also try to open the files in Open Office/ LibreOffice (free to use).

How are you trying to open the file, from a shortcut, the recent list or using the file, open and navigating to the folder? It may be that something happened during the upgrades.

Yes, might be shortcut which is on desktop, created problem. Right click on the shortcut and click properties > shortcut and observe target textbox, is it correct or not.
