Over the past several weeks, my startup time in the Windows 10 Task Manager has been around 11.8. But just in the past couple of days, it's gone up to 12.8. I know it's minimal but I would like to know what caused the increase. Any suggestions?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It could be any number of reasons like software updates or hardware changes or USB device connections like an external CD/DVD or HD . With that time I assume you are using a SSD and not a standard HD. If you have done a lot of file maintenance you may want to defrag the drive. It may also be possible if you enabled any new WIndows features that may have been turned off like the firewall or defender for example.

I would agree with with ToddN2000 on this. Microsoft in one of the new Networking patches that they issued has changed how the system starts and how it logs into itself and into Network connections. It does not always make the network connections even though it says that it has. Next if it is a cleanup and fragmentation issue do not believe what the Microsoft utilities say about fragmentation and cleanup. Both of them do not report properly and will actually lie to you about this. Also if there have been patches done, the registry may have garbage in it that is slowing down the the system. I would recommend running a good registry cleaner utility on it. There are any number of good utilities that do that out there.
