Over the past couple of weeks, I noticed that my laptop has been terribly slow after it did a Windows 10 update. Whenever I open a new tab in Google Chrome or searching for an application - everything is just slow (stalling almost). It's an Asus laptop. The disk usage / CPU are fine.

It might be your ISP issue. please check with your service provider as Windows 10 has no such issues with Google Chrome.

Go into Services and see exactly what is running.  There is always a possibility that you could have a virus on your system and it is running in the background.  Looking in Services, you can see what exactly is running and if you see something that you do not know, you can Google and see what it is.
