I just bought a new Lenovo laptop that's running Windows 10. So I did some updating recently and added some programs. But when I try to pin a program to the Start Menu, it appears for a minute. But when I tried to pin another one, the Start menu closed and none of them saved. Why does this keep happening?

Perhaps your user profile is corrupted. You can try with another user login / password and check if that happens again. Also check your current user settings that and check whether the pinned shortcut is located in the following path, C:\users\[yourusername]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\internet explorer\quick launch\user pinned\taskbar. Sometimes refresh/ rebuild the iconcache.db helps to resolve this type of issue.

Are you logged in as a User or Admin? Check out the forum here. IT also mentions that some users with Kaspersky internet Security are having issues doing what you are trying.

I have to agree with ToddN2000 on this one. Since Microsoft took away the Super User category and now you are either an Administrator or a User. The User has very limited capabilities on this level.
