Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It could be a number of things. The wi-fi connected just means it’s communicating with the wireless router. The “no internet” means you are not logged in or the signal from the cable or DSL may be down.  Worst case is you can call your ISP and they can walk you through fixing the problem.

Do you have other devices connected to the same network, which do have internet access?

Do you have access to the administrative console of the router?

Have you proper internet tariff/ plan to do surfing. You can check concerned vendor's service center/ customer care.

Check to see if there is software firewall running on the Dell Laptop. And if so check to make sure that Dell Laptop has permissions to access the internet through the firewall. Are you using DHCP on the Dell Laptop to get an address. Make sure that it is getting a valid and complete address through DHCP. It may not be. Is the wireless router that it connects to broadcasting a proper address scheme if the router is using DHCP?

@Thabile, have you properly configured APN settings etc. Also check for tariff/internet plan with same vendor.

I had a similar case recently where my laptop says connected but doesn't browse or perform any online activity. The fault was in my DSL service provider at the backend that they fixed and everything was back to the normal.
