Which SAP module do I choose for my career?

Hi, I am a Java developer with 3.3 years of experience, currently working with MNC. My educational background is mechanical engineering. Java was never my preferred technology but had to take it as my employer forced me. After a year of tedious work in a Java implementation project, I'm finding myself at a point where I'm not finding any interest in coding. However I'm switching my 1st job on same technology but I want to do my 2nd switch on SAP may be after 18-19 months from now. Please let me know which module of SAP will be suitable for me considering my educational, work background and also the time I have for preparation (18 to 19 months).

Being a mechanical engineer, you can go for SAP MM, SAP WM, SAP PP, SAP PM etc. All these are relevant to your profile. Among all these, I’ll strongly recommend you to go for SAP MM module.

As you are a mechanical engineer, for sap you can consider sap material management. While sap mm deals with material management/ inventory management. You can consult with your nearby consultant for your career and do understand all of the modules. Expense is an another criteria. As you are not interested for coding, so not discussing here for sp abap programming.

You can start with SAP MM and branch off into others as the job require. You may even get the new employer to cover the training costs.
