Where is the CPU clock?

WHERE exactly is the CPU *CLOCK* LOCATED? Is it INSIDE or OUTSIDE the CPU? I mean, is it inside or outside the CPU chip? Every where I read, the CPU clock's operation is mentioned, but NEVER where the clock is exactly located!
Is is sometimes referred to as the SYSTEM CLOCK (?), implying it is OUTSIDE the CPU. But then HOW can each DIFFERENT CPU be said as having a certain speed, if it's speed can be "controlled" by an "outside" clock?

Clock speed also called as clock rate, the speed at which a microprocessor can execute instructions. Every computer contains an internal clock that regulates the rate at which instructions are executed and synchronizes all the various computer components. Clock speeds are expressed in megahertz(mhz) / gigahertz(ghz).

Thank you! So it sounds as if the clock is a chip OUTSIDE the CPU
