I work at a fortune 500 company as an Exchange Admin. One great advantage of working as an exchange admin is most tasks in EMC will tell you the equivalent Powershell command. I then do some of it in Powershell. But, right now, things are iffy at my company and I want to expand my knowledge to know how to use Windows Powershell. I don't think Windows will tell me the commands from Windows GUIs. Also, I need to know how to write an actual script, instead of just feeding individual commands. Whether it's Powershell, VB Script, or some other language, how are others learning this? I have to be able to read it and test it in a test environment. I can't learn this stuff in Prod at work. My current supervisor is totally against command line and likes all GUI. Also the stakes are huge at work. If the command works as expected, fine. But if anything goes wrong and they find out I was experimenting writing Powershell scripts, I'll be walked out the door. But, as my current job could very likely be outsourced, not all my future bosses will want me to do all my tasks via GUI and not script.
