I'm 45, injured, told I must choose a new career. My current job was an all around mechanic/electrician fix it guy. While I have been off I have been repairing, upgrading friends computers, desktops, laptops, etc. I enjoy it but I don't want to waste my time in a basic coarse. Any ideas would be great.
Software/Hardware used: 7 pro 64, old dual core acer i fixed, fastest download on speedtest was 63mps, smokin
In line w/ what Rechil was saying, you can either go the PC hardware-to-server support route, or venture into the vast world of Networking which includes the basic routing and switching, then add on wireless, security, Voice (or all of the above)...
I would agree with Gabe and Sixball - networking could be the way to go. Enrolling in a course to learn some more advanced networking techniques could be beneficial. If not, and if you like the support role, you could work in a support or help desk system for a company. I think your general experience could even put you in a team leader-style role as well.
I also run a website that helps IT professionals improve their IT career. I hope it can help - you can see it at Complete IT Professional.
