What program can display Word-like files in a list you can click to launch immediately

I am looking for a reader that will display a list of Word files on my PC, and with one click I can open and view the file immediately -- just as I do with my WordStar files, and a simple utility, DR.Com (yes, I am that old...!).  Anyone got any suggestions? I am using both Win7 32-bit and Win10 64-bit, although it would be mostly for the 64-bit OS that I need it, as with Win7, being 32-bit, I don't have to convert (by stripping off the hi-bit) my WordStar files into text files, and thence to Word, in order to see them. But assuming that is the way I have to go (since, absent vDOS,  WordStar won't run under any 64-bit system) I would like to find a viewer utility that is hopefully free, and will provide the same sort of instant-opening of Word-like files, from a directory list (which can show in date or name order) as I can get with DR.Com (a very useful utility for inspecting the inside of any file -- if you are into DOS...).  Naturally, it doesn't have to launch the application -- just display the contents of files for quick checking. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried using Window explorer and the preview pane? This sounds like it would suit your needs.

You can view last few opened files in Recent documents. If you wish you can increase number of files in Recent document's list.
