An audit log of what?  Sales transactions, a program dump or something else? Lots of things can produce an audit log if set up properly. For most you will probably get a timestamp, transaction type or command, success or failure to name a few. You may also get things like the parameters used and an ID as to who initiated the transaction.

    For what kind of operation? An on-line retail sales business will need to capture different info then a pharmaceuticals supplier or stock broker. Government agencies can be very different from private industry. Small-office single proprietors will be different from multi-national corporations.
