    Depending on your education level and certifications, you may need a lot more schooling and specialized courses. IT's not just a job you fall into. There may be a few others in the company with more seniority working their way to the same goal.

    I've always though the same as Kevin. How can a manager or other higher ranking position make criticism or comment on your duties if they could not do them themselves due to lack of knowledge. That's like having a manager review the programming staff and their success or failures when they can't code themselves. How would they know if the project should take 2 weeks or 2 months?
