I want to recover the chat history of the Skype app on my iphone. I've already exported the chat history on my computer, however there's a lot of missing messages, and huge chunks of time are missing. I know the missing messages must be on my phone, because I've already scrolled back to see some of them, but the app always crashes before I get too far back. I've already tried some online apps to try and access these chats (iMyFone D-back, iMyFone iTransor, PhoneRescue) however, Skype either doesn't show up as an option to recover from, or it does, but when it finishes 'recovering', I just get a white screen.

The messages in the Skype chat are very important to me, so I would really like some help in finding a way to export them.

How to Read Old Skype Chat Messages

After a certain point, your old Skype messages no longer appear in the chat window within Skype. This helps keep the screen uncluttered and helps you to see your recent interactions without being distracted by older ones. Skype doesn’t actually delete these messages when it stops showing them. As long as you still have access to the Skype account on which you had the conversation and haven’t manually deleted your chat history, you can view your old messages.

1.Sign in to the Skype account on which you originally had the conversation you wish to view.

2.Click the “Contacts” tab in the left section of Skype. This shows you a list of all of your Skype contacts.

3.Scroll down the list of contacts until you see the contact with whom you previously had the conversation you wish to view. Click this contact’s name when you see it.

4.Look to the right side of the Skype screen. Above any current messages displayed from this contact, you see a list of options that says “Show messages from:” followed by a list of time periods.

5.Click the time period in which the conversation in question took place. This could be anything from “Yesterday” to “1 Year” to “Since Beginning.”

What types of apps are they? Means are they paid or free? It seems that, the history might be corrupted or something like deleted.

Download/ install SkypeBrowser then open the main.db file location. Now find the conversation which contains the messages that you asked for. By using this method you can easily view old/ corrupted/ deleted messages on Skype.

The apps I used were free, but did have features only available if I paid. However, I still should have been able to preview the messages for free with those apps.

I tried looking for a SkypeBrowser download, but I only found http://www.skypebrowser.com/ and every time I tried to upload the main.db file, I got an error.

What error are you getting there? Was it installed properly? Is the path is correct when you selected?

There is no error code, it just says "Error occurred. Sorry!" Like I said before, I didn't download or install anything, because I could only find the website http://www.skypebrowser.com/. I assume the path is correct, it's the main.db in the Skype app folder under my Skype name.

I followed the steps, and there are STILL missing messages, an entire two months.

I feel like y'all did not look closely enough at my post. I have ALREADY gone through every option in regards to recovering logs on my computer. What I'm looking for is a way to recover the logs from my PHONE, where I believe the missing messages are. The problem was that I primarily used the Skype app on my phone, and it did not sync with the Skype on my computer, resulting in the missing messages.

So, is there a way to reach those logs on my iPhone? Can I export them? Or can I stabilize the Skype app so I can scroll back enough without it crashing?

I'm a little confused. Are you using both you phone and computer for Skyping? . Are the gaps you are missing from Skype sessions on the other device? I believe each keeps it's own database of chat transcripts. You would need to be a little bit technical if you want to try and merge these two databases into one continuous chat log. Also depending on you settings, Skype may purge old message after a certain length of time. Can you give us some example of the days of missing chat and gap that are not visible? Are there messages you can see before and after these missing messages?

Yes, I used both for Skyping, however I used my phone far more than my computer. I cannot tell if the gaps missing are also on my phone, as the Skype app will crash before I can get to where the gaps are. I'm not sure just how technical you're talking, but I'm certainly willing to try.

There are several gaps in the messages at different dates. Sometimes only a few messages are missing in these windows, which makes the conversation nonsense (for example, I had sent a question, and I remember receiving an answer, however there was no trace of it when I looked for it). The biggest gap, which is most pressing to me, starts on December 8, 2017. The messages start cutting out in small batches, and then on Dec 11, two whole months seem to have disappeared, and the messages reappear on February 13, 2018. Unfortunately, there are some very important conversations in that missing length of time.

For reference, the last message sent in that chat was on 5/24/2018.
