Hi experts. We have servers in internal network and also in DMZ network. We need to configure VLAN for backup. Are there any good practices to follow, moreover can there be only one backup VLAN for servers in DMZ and Internal network or should be be two separate backup VLANs?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

the servers will need to have 2 NIC cards, one connect to the production vlan another NIC card connect to the anohter dedicated vlan for the backup.

This sounds like a lab question for the networking class given at the colleges. If you were an SA, you would know the basics of this setup.  Show us some work and we can assist with that, show us nothing, that is what you get.  We don't do homework, unless it is our own.

Hi, Sorry I am new to networking. Just wanted to confirm what's the ideal scenario for backup network. Since there is DMZ should there be a separate VLAN for backup of DMZ servers or one overall one VLAN for backup would do.

You want to get that backup traffic off your production network NICs if at all possible.

Refer the following discussion thread. Hope it will some help.
