My employee embedded Visual Basic into Microsoft Word, and it appeared to be automatically copying emails I had sent. I accidentally stumbled on it. Is this possible, or have I misinterpreted?

Probably there was a desktop shortcut (assuming you have Windows OS, as mentioned VB) and you just stumbled it. If this is the case, you can create a shortcut again from the .exe files where it is actually located.

I work through Citrix, could it be hidden within Citrix?

Have you discussed this with your employee?

Might be, the situation is not so clear from this side. You can ask the administrator, who cares systems. However, this are all based on guess.

    Apologies, it should state employer.

I believe they are covertly monitoring me. I have asked them outright and they throw up smokescreen and mirror and deny knowledge.

If this is the case (State Employer),you have to go through the proper channel. Might be your application was not in proper way.

I'm confused. If it's in Word, then how are you sending e-mails? Maybe they have something set up on the network mail server. As for them setting it up, is it just you or company wide? There are a lot of ways this can be done and the other question is to why are they suspicious ?

As I read through this it looks like you are telling us that your employer (a State agency) is capturing your emails. Is this correct? If so there is nothing you can do about it. You are on company time and using company equipment.

The only hope you have is to get this on your resume and then you can run for public office. :-)

Yes that's my issue, they are monitoring my email, they don't do this to other employees within my dept.
I have asked them if they are doing it and they simply deny it and make all sorts of excuses.

What I'm trying to establish, is it technically feasible for them to embed visual basic, trying to hide it from me and use it to automatically capture my email?

You need to realize that it is not HOW they are monitoring you, but WHAT have you done to make them need to do it. Get your act together and if you are not doing anything wrong, do worry about it.

There must have been something that raised suspicion and have them start monitoring your e-mails. It could be someone else mentioning something to a supervisor. I still doubt that it's being done with VB. What tipped you off to them making copies of your e-mails?
