Sony Vaio factory resets

My Sony Vaio VGN-FW230J has been reset to factory a couple times. This time it fails to detect the internal hard drive and I get error 40 and 90 messages and "Cannot use this recovery disc for this computer". I even get those messages when then recovery DVDs aren't in the disc drive. I actually enjoy the troubleshooting process but I'm starting to get frustrated. Any guidance will be appreciated.

    Hope there is no important backup. You can try for a fresh install of OS (Vista/ Win7). Also check the BIOS, if the HDD is properly setup or auto detect is enable.
