I just made several changes to a text file in Notepad on my Windows 10 PC. But I actually have to get the old version back now. I already tried restoring previous versions but I'm not seeing any. Can I view the changes that I made? Or can I retrieve the old file? Thank you so much.

Unless you saved a backup copy you may not be able to. Notepad is a VERY basic text editor. It does not have a lot of features like Word or other editors that may save a backup copy automatically. If you are restoring an older version, check to make sure the date / time on the file is indeed an older version. For a text file that you are editing on a regular basis you way want to use a different editor and consider adding a version number or timestamp to the file name to keep multiple versions in case you need to rollback the data.

Why you asked for old version? is there any problem to use this version of notepad? If yes, so please tell what problem have you faced? You can use old version, but compatibility issue may be there. However if possible, please come back with errors.

Moreover, if you have some problem using Notepad, you can use Wordpad instead of Notepad, which can help to open almost all text files with editing privilege.
