Through windows login script (domain environment) I would use
Net time /domain:labdx.local /set /yes
Then, on the domain server (virtual machine), I point the time to its virtual host, virtual host points to firewall, and firewall NTP points to NAVY Time. You can't go wrong with this setup :)

But we don't know if that is what the OP meant by "verify a NTP time source".
