Using Cisco AUX ports to extend serial interfaces

Unfortunately serial connections are still very much with us. I have a need to monitor older dedicated control and alarm devices. I would like to pin up a serial connection between Cisco routers (2600's) to extend printer, alarm and administrative ports on ancient DOS based control hardware. I am looking for an iOS recipe to set this up between two routers. I am a novice at iOS but have a CCNA certification. I have a basic understanding of how routers, iOS and how IP routing works in a private networks. I have the need to manage remote devices with serial interfaces without having to drive to remote sites (age catches up to all of us).
