Using an @If statment in a view column to string field values; multivalue display issue

I am attempting to string together values from six columns (fields) in a view column. The formula language below works for those documents who only have one of the six fields filled in. However, for documents with two or more of the fields filled in, it only fills in the first value that is filled in and leaves the rest off. It tried unsuccessfully to add an @Explode in front of the field name; that didn't seem to help. Any tips would be appreciated!
@If(Race1 != ""; Race1; @If(Race2 != ""; Race2; @If(Race3 != ""; Race3; @If(Race4 != ""; Race4; @If(Race5 != ""; Race5; @If(Race6 != ""; Race6; ""))))))

Okay, so I think I figured out a work-around. In the form, I used a field to string together the six fields and then displayed that field in the column. The values are separated by a semicolon. Different road to the same location, I guess. But if anyone is aware of why the view solution coding was faulty, I’d still love to know!

    It looks like you want something like

    @If(Race1 != ""; Race1+"; "; "" ) + @If(Race2 != ""; Race2+"; "; "" ) + @If(Race3 != ""; Race3+"; "; "" ) + @If(Race4 != ""; Race4+"; "; "" ) + @If(Race5 != ""; Race5+"; "; "" ) + @If(Race6 != ""; Race6; "")

    or something as simple as

    Race1 : Race2 : Race3 : Race4 : Race5 : Race6

    1) this way

    Racevalues:=Race1:Race2:Race3:Race4:Race5:Race6;

     @trim(Racevalues);

    2) In case if you dont want repeated values you can use @unique.

    Racevalues:=Race1:Race2:Race3:Race4:Race5:Race6;

    @unique(@trim(RaceValues))
