I'm currently on Windows 10. Whenever I insert a USB into my machine, nothing is happening. But when I switched back to Windows 7, it worked fine. What's going on here?

Probably power management may cause of this USB issue. To check, open device manager & expand the universal serial bus controllers section. Open the USB root hub device, click the power management tab. Now un-check "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option after that click OK and close all the dialog boxes. Hope it works.

Could be a number of things. Does any device work in the USB on the Win10 machine? Is this a USB 2.0 or 3.0 or 3.0C. If you are on a network (at your job) they may have disabled USB ports as a security measure. What is on the USB they you are trying to access? It may be security related or even encrypted. WE need some more details please.

I am more inclined to believe that Win 10 is misdirecting the USB device and assigning it to a drive that is already in use by another drive.  Check under file explorer and manage to see if the Win 10 is properly detecting the USB Drive.

When you say switch back, are you running a dual boot system and they only function when you boot in WIndows 7 and will not work if you boot in Win10? Or is there something else going on?
