Broadband wireless networks
Hi, I am accessing internet through broadband router. when my firewall off of system i am able to access the internet when the firewall is on i am not able to access the internet. Actually what's the firewall reports says when system send packet to internet in one port but it is receiving data on another port hence it is blocking. Generally when an application send data through some port it will get response through the same port but here it's getting response in other port hence blocking. What could be the exact problem like problem in the system or router. Please give me solution as soon as possible. Normally i am able to access internet even firewall is on. Thanking you, Regards, yathindra.

Software/Hardware used:

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Can I ask, what firewall are you using? Do you allow your IE to go on to the internet? If you don’t allow your IE to go on the internet there is no way that you can access the internet. Another thing is that IE uses port 80 to go to the net. and if it is https it is 443.

Hi, Thanks for your response. IE is allowed in my firewall list. Normally IE use 80 only ok. But the problem here is local computer uses random port to connect to internet and reply for the same port through which it connected. But here means in my case i am sending in one port but getting in another port. Where the problem could be?.

Try resetting the router. It sounds like some how the port forwarding is corrupt.

reset router and try to ping some website. if you are not able to ping with name of website. if it not pinging check dns setting or set dns ip as (google dns)

sounds almost like you have it wired improperly. double-check the physical connectivity of your devices - if your PC is plugged into the WAN port of your router, and the internet connection is on the "LAN" side, it would certainly explain this issue...

Hi. If there are specific ports being blocked it is possible your firewall setup needs to be changed. If using Windows Firewall on Windows 7 or Server 2008 there are significant changes with advanced firewall rules. If earlier there are still rules that might be blocking. If using a firewall application then this needs to be checked as well. It is possible that when you started using this connection, a pop-up message appeared asking if you wanted to allow or block this connection, if blocked it would have set a rule.
