I use a Dell Inspiron laptop for gaming purposes. But last night, it froze mid-game and I can't turn it off. I'm holding the power button but nothing is happening. How can I turn it off safely? Thank you for all the help.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Seems more common than I thought. The common consensus is It’s best to let it run out of the battery. Thing is that Embedded Controller (EC) faulted so keyboard, lid, power button and rest of the components stopped responding.

To fix the problem you’ll have to perform the BIOS Update which include updates for EC firmware. Updating outdated drivers is recommended as well and can be done easily from the site.

First navigate Desktop (show the desktop on taskbar) now try to open control panel > power options > system settings and disable fast boot. Next again try to press power button for a long time and check if that helps. Or you have to wait for full battery usage.
