I'm relatively new to technology / IT so I wanted to bring this question to the experts. I've been havin some file share issues with other PCs in our network. I took it to a repair shop and they don't me that the issue was with the Windows 10 firewall and they turned it off. I'm still nervous that they turned it off. Should I be? Thank you so much.

The question is incomplete. Other than firewall, is there any good anti virus installed? If yes, then don't worry about firewall, just check if the AV is updated regularly or set as scheduled update. Or you can set a rule to share the files in firewall, but if you are not so expert then don't do it. Or call your system administrator.

It's possible it may have been the fire wall. We can only guess because we do not know your current network setup. It may have been blocking IP network addresses or something else. Turning off a fire wall will fix a lot of connectivity issues but it opens you to a buck of potential threats. I have had issues with a firewall (ZoneAlarm) preventing me from playing on-line games. They have a feature "game mode". This mode automatically denies all access while in this mode. Once the "game mode" window is closed it goes back to it's normal function.  If you can provide some info on how you network is set up and any errors you were getting we may be able to help.
