There is no native method for transposing columns and rows directly within Microsoft Access.

Instead, the data must be exported from Access to Microsoft Excel and then imported back into Access.

To export the data, select “Save As/Export” in Access from the file menu. Select the version of Excel to which you’d like to export the data in the dialogue box and then click “Export”.

Open the file in Excel. Select and copy the data. Open up a second worksheet, right click in cell “A1”, and select “Paste Special”. Click “Transpose”.

Delete the original worksheet and save.

In Access, select “Get External Data” and select Excel as the file type. Select the appropriate options and click “Finish”.
