Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The tracking and tracing will only work if you enabled the feature before it went missing. If you did you can follow the step listed in the other posts and you may be able to locate it.

At this point I'd probably say no if they replaced the sim chip. Unfortunately depending on how the factory reset was done they may still have access to the data on it.

Tracking with Device Manager (or better, Find My Phone) requires that you took the steps to enable tracking, including enabling Location History. If it all wasn't fully enabled, it won't be tracked.

And as you know, if the phone's been reset, anything done to enable tracking has been disabled. There's no way to find it now.

For future reference and for other Android phone users, see How to Find a Stolen Android Phone for most useful info on preparing for a lost phone.

Probably finding the lost phone is slightly difficult, if they reset the phone. However you can link here for more help, https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6160491?hl=en

@maccy16: Unfortunately no. If he's using it for wi-fi it's like using your laptop to connect to your home router. Most likely they IP address is dynamic and changes all the time.

While IP address might be changing all the times, but MAC address is not changeable if there is no illegal trick applied. However changing MAC address is difficult. Yes, it may be possible to trace through MAC address but it is not an easy procedure. You can contact your ISP or SIM provider for more help.

As stated earlier it may be possible to trace through MAC. I have not seen any applications for public use to do this though. This is something that would have to be done by the carrier or ISP and you would need to contact them. It may be a costly service if they can do it at all.

You can't trace with a MAC address. An ISP might be able to do it, though. Of course, you need to know which ISPs are involved in any given connection before tracing even becomes possible. If you don't know which ISPs are involved at either end of a connection, you can't get any help from them.

In short, it essentially can't be done. If you did know the ISPs, there's very little chance they'd have resources available to help any individual.

The carrier / ISP means, that provider who provides the connection for your mobile. You can contact them through their toll free number (if any) or directly contact them if their office in your location. However, this is not so an easy process.
