We have a problem where thin clients won’t connect to the server after power outages, hanging on a Please wait message. It’s really having a negative effect, so any ideas you’ve got on how to resolve this would be great.
Problem Background: Windows 7 embedded thin clients get stuck in ‘Please wait…’ screen, when they are re-started after a hard/forced reboot or they get stuck in ‘Welcome’ screen while logging in. It will take a minimum of 2 hours and potential more than 24 hours before it connects.
Symptoms: This happens when the thin clients are shutdown abruptly due to power outage, or user themselves power it off when it becomes non-responsive. If the thin client is re-booted normally (using Windows options) the issue does not occur.
During the stage of ‘Please wait..’ the thin client tries to connect to the domain controller, and then starts sending a ‘Tree disconnect request’, and would then try to re-attempt to connect to the domain controller after every 15 minutes, until it finally is able to connect to the domain controller.
Thanks for reading and here’s hoping you can help!
