Hi, i do update my OS40 to V6.1 but since i have problem with my STRTCPSVR command when my system is in restricted stat. i got all the time the msgid TCP1A77 (TCP1A77 STRTCPSVR completed successfully; however errors occurred) so my backup counld't start without activiting manually the IP interface needed to communicate with the Robot. Can someone help to fix this problem. Thanks.
...my STRTCPSVR command when my system is in restricted stat.
What servers are you trying to start while in "restricted state"? Are you running the command from a command line? Is it run as part of a startup program? Where do you see the message?
Tom
STRTCPSVR command can only be used when TCP/IP is fully operational.
Try running the command STRTCP prior to running STRTCPSVR (if needed).
Back in earlier releases of the OS, STRTCP was a required part of the startup program - this was incorporated into the IPL a few releases ago.
Obviously if your server is in a restricted state then you need to start other dependant functions (normally incorporated into the startup program) individually such as subsystems QSERVER, QUSRWRK & QCMN if you want to gradually introduce functionality
Thank you Cogit8.. i will try your solution this weekend for my weekly backup.... but btw before the upgrade it was working perfectly ..i don;t know why i have this problem with os v6.1
we will see...thank you again
this is for TomLiotta :
sorry i was using STRTCP with *NO option for all servers,
To start a backup i'm using 2 Commands : one to put the system in restricted state and the second to start my backup (savsys or Weekly) Everything was ok before the upgrade.
Anywhy i found a simple solution i added STRTCPIFC command in my CL and everything is ok. thank you
This is the kind of thing that the Memo to Users is intended to prepare customers for. The Memo should be read and understood before starting to plan the upgrade.
In this case, the 'Starting and ending TCP/IP' topic would be relevant. Things change with new releases, and especially with new versions.
