Sounds like it might be an inactivity timer closing out the session. Have someone check the system parameter value  QINACTITV. Or there may be a timeout default on the server.

The TCP/IP connection is to which server(s) -- telnet? database? other? What activity is going on when it drops?

ToddN2000's mention of QINACTITV is the best starting point. There can be others that may depend on details.

Is there a session timing issue? Are all other policies defined correctly as the other computers have?

Thanks for all feed back I am getting...still not resolved. Fellow colleagues are fine and we have the same settings..how would I check if it’s a session timing issue?

When working remotely, are you using a VPN and if so the same one? Also i would check with your ISP to see if there is a line issue. They may be able to run a test on signal strength.

QINACTITV system value is *none so no time out issues..Telnet connection yes same vpn global connect..signal strength is good ..and this only happens with my ibm i sessions..involving the network folks as this does not appear to be from the ibm i.

Please check this troubleshoot guide by IBM, https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/dropped-sessions-and-disconnects

Thanks for forwarding troubleshooting link.. actually confirms that issue does not reside on the ibm i. The network folks pushed updates thru and now seems to be working. Thanks all. For a developer i am learning a lot about admin functions..
