Cutting CSV file columns

I have multiple CSV files that have hundreds of records. I basically have to cut several columns from each file, followed by storing them to another one. This is on Ubuntu / Linux. Does anyone know how to do that?

Linux script to see what data has been changed in the past day

My department is running a MySQL server on a Ubuntu machine. We noticed that someone changed some data in the past day but not sure of who did / what was changed. Is there a Linux script that could tell us what's been modified? This includes file names and file sizes. Thank you.

I just recently installed Ubuntu on my machine several days ago. From just getting used to it, it looks like the terminal is a huge part of the Linux distro. But should I be really using the terminal? Don't the commands go through the GUI anyway? Thanks for the help.

Complete unattended installation of Ubuntu on USB
