How do I delete this registry infection? The problem appears under the name 'INTERACTIVE SERVICES DIALOG DETECTION' and prevents printer function (in my case).
I have tried using MS Config to eliminate unknown downloads but that didn't work . Have tried several registry 'cleaners' without success.
What "registry infection" do you want to remove? SVCHOST.EXE is not a registry infection; it is a needed part of Windows. Where are you seeing any message? Please describe how the message shows up. It is possible that a different program can be given the same name, and the second program would be a problem. -- Tom
Svchost.exe was mentioned as bogus program in a discussion with someone on the internet. 'Interactive Services Dialog Detection' has recently started appearing in a box at the bottom right of my screen. Since then I have lost all control of my printer. Clicking on that box brings up an explanation that some items cannot be displayed and I must click on an option that allows the item to be displayed.. I have had the DELL 720 printer for ten years and never had a problem.Bill
Okay, before anything else, try looking through Microsoft's Troubleshooting Interactive Services Detection page. You should begin to learn that a big part of this is "normal". However, if printing has become a problem, then something is happening that is separate from the 'Interactive Services' part and it's trying to communicate with you. The communication might get easier once you get 'Interactive Service' under control. It's possible that 'Interactive Services' simply wasn't needed on your PC until a printer problem happened, so you're just now needing to work with it. -- Tom
