    It starts with good leadership at the top, especially regarding the CIO and/or CTO. It's not hard to show the value of information systems in business today given the complete dependence on such technologies for many (most?) areas of the business. I think where people are struggling is when it comes to security. Many people working in IT, including those in management positions, have trouble showing why security (that's done well) costs so much. That's a tough nut to crack but I think, in part, the headlines speak for themselves.
