Storing emails on Vista so as to save in My Book

I want to transfer a large number of old emails saved in my Inbox and my Sent mail to My Book but it looks as if first I have to find something to save them onto in my computer. I have Vista 7, and all the procedures I'm finding online are using Outlook, which is not in Vista. So what procedure can I use to get those emails put on the exterior storage so that they can later retrieved? My email provider is Earthlink. I have Firefox.

The provider of your e-mail service is Earthlink. You use some program on your Vista system to read your e-mails. Outlook is a common program that people use to access their e-mail on Earthlink. We need to know what program you are using in order to figure out what method will work for you. -- Tom

A response to my question above has come from TomLiotta asking for the program I have for accessing email. It's Firefox.

If you're accessing your Earthlink e-mail through a web-mail interface (using the Firefox browser), you can't store your e-mail on your PC. You need to use a dedicated e-mail client program such as Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. -- Tom

BTW, in Vista, you'd use Windows Mail instead of Outlook. That is, Microsoft replaced Outlook Express with Windows Mail in Vista. It's more of a name change than a truly different product. Personally, I wouldn't use Outlook nor Windows Mail; I use Thunderbird. But it is a personal choice. -- Tom
