Hello everyone,
I'm still a student and I'm very interested in the BI field. But I have an important question. I would like to know if it's crucial to know well about statistics like the R programming language as I know it's widely used by the person who works in data mining and data analytics. In other words it's the technical side of BI and I think it's important to have some experiences in those fields before start in BI. So, I'm confused and I want your opinion.
To synthesize, is it important to have good knowledge in statistics to embrace a BI carrier?
The BI field is too wide to know if a deep knowledge of statistics is important to any individual. Certainly there are many jobs where deep knowledge of statistical methods will be required, so it's helpful to have the background. And learning a language such as R will open many more opportunities. If you expect deep immersion in the field rather than a peripheral 'job', both are strongly recommended. -- Tom
