SRM VR Replication – Test Recovery SRM

Okay, I think I know the answer to this question, But I think I found out the hard way.
Should I pause Replication when doing a Test Recovery?
I did a Test recently and one of my VM's was syncing. The Test failed saying "Unable to find a viable Replica". The Cleanup failed for that VM and it is now locked in SRM. I will have to fix it using hbrsvc.
The bigger question is why does the Recovery not automatically pause any VM's that are syncing and will this also happen when doing a full recovery when VM's are syncing?

vSphere 5.1, vCenter 5.1, SRM VR Replication , ESXi 5.1 Update 1

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You shouldn’t have to pause replication. There
is a check box that asks if you want to replicate recent changes to recovery
site on one of the pages after you hit test.  I always uncheck it because I
am simply running a test and don’t want to wait for the replication to
complete.  The reason you are getting the error could be a number of
things, but it should not be because you didn’t pause replication.

Okay, I found a fix for the Failed Cleanup, I just used Forced and the VM is now fine, I didn't have to get funky with the command line.

However, the question is still valid. For audit purposes, I do not want to have errors in the log when I do a DR Test.

SSH into the host that the VM is riding on and run these two commands:

vim-cmd vmsvc/getallvms    that will get you the ID of the VM's

    vim-cmd hbrsvc/vmreplica.getState  <VMID>

That will tell you if the VM is still replicating.  If it hasn't finished its initial sync, you will get the error you have been getting.
