I have installed sql server express on my local computer and now I would like to install it on the server (q). When I go to install it, it is not seeing the q drive. What could be causing this?
Software/Hardware used: install on sql server express 2005
The idea of me posting a question here is to hopefully get it answered--I need this installed on the server , not the local drive--that I can do. If anyone can post an answer on how to install this on the server, please respond.
You need to be logged on to the actual server to be able to install it, not just connected to it via a network. If it is a Windows server that you want to install it on, you can use something like Remote Desktop to enable you to initiate a session on the server , and then install it from there.
Hi Shircol, I think you would get more useful answers if you provide more details about what you are trying to do.
When I read "I would like to install it on the server", I thought you wanted to run the installer on the server, and that's why I said "install it on a local drive (on the server)", but it seems that you want to run the installer on your pc and put your database on the server. It that is true, then, as MrDenny stated, you can't.
