hi my name is ramakrishna any one know how to create multiple <b>Active Directory users in win 2003</b> with different names, If any one know this please send me the answer
I dont understand your question. In order to create users you right click on the doamin and then select new and then user. I cant see creating 5 users at one time with different names and passwords. Now if you are going from ad 2000 to ad 2003 you can regenerate your users without having to manually insert each one of them. But i have not seen where you can create multiple users at one time, you probably can via a script .
Buddy Farr here, I have seen how to do this but it usually means that you must use a third party program. There is probably a way to do it via creating your own vbscript. if you know how to write it then you could do that. I use a program called User Management Resource Administrator. you could use a csv file or excel file to import the user names and then create a default password for all accounts. I use UMRA to do everything for our accounts. It creates the user account, creates the home and profile directory and sets permissions on them. It also adds them to the correct groups depending on which script I choose. it will also create the exchange 2003 mailbox and add them to email groups. there is so much more that it can do that we have not even touched upon yet. it can edit any field in active directory pertaining to that account. all I have to do is enter their name and choose what home server to assign them to and click submit. You can also use it to move them from one department to another. just by choosing the username and what dept they are moving to. then UMRA will remove them from all email and security groups and add them to what they need to be in for the new department. it is a little confusing at first because you have to create all the scripts yourself. it is drag and drop but can get a little daunting at first. we also use it when a person leaves the organization. highlight their name and click submit and it backs up the user’s home directory and exchange mailbox. then delete the account and directories associated with it. the program can be found at: http://www.tools4ever.com/
