I did my engineering in 2012. I could not find any job so I setup a retail shop but we had to close it down as it did not turned profitable. Now I have no other choice other than to try in some private IT companies. My programming experience is also limited. Will learning SAP ABAP be a wise choice in these circumstances? How much time it take to master this language and get a well paying job?

You did not mention, you are an engineer, but in what respect. As you wished to learn sap/abap, assuming you are a b.tech (CS) or something like. If this true, sap/abap is of course a wise choice. Now course duration etc. you may contact nearby a good renowned institution. And now master in this language, that depends on your hard work, quality time investment for reading/ assignment/ your efforts etc.

You got to ask yourself also what you are good in. Software? Hardware? You got to define that path before you can move on further.
