Should I get a wireless adapter or a second router?

Hi, I recently added a work space in my garage and it's a dead zone for Wi-Fi. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get a wireless adapter for my mac or if I should just go for a second router. Would the wireless adapter on the mac allow other devices to connect to Wi-Fi? Would getting a second router cost more through my current company, Time Warner Cable? Also, I would want to connect the two routers wirelessly, how can I do that without having network interference? Will the second router allow Wi-Fi to get to the garage? The garage is in the house and the placement of the second router would be right next to the wall separating house from garage. I have found a video on how to set up a second router should this be the option I choose. I have already done research on the products I would buy depending on which option I choose, so if anyone has any suggestions or needs to know the products I've found please let me know! Thank you in advance, I have almost no tech experience.
