Hello Linus Tech Tips. I'm trying to decide between a HP 15.6 laptop. Which of these two would you recommend... 15.6" HD Touchscreen Display 8th Gen Intel i5-8250U Quad-Core Processor 12GB DDR4 RAM 1TB HDD Backlit-Keyboard Bluetooth B&O Audio Windows 10 vs. 8GB SDRAM, 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD, 15-cw1063wm (1 TB 5400 rpm SATA + 128 GB M.2 Solid State Drive) . Basically comparing an $540 Amazon HP vs a $599 Walmart HP. We are retired RN's, (non gamers) but would like a reliable laptop with good audio, fast processing speeds. Wife's birthday coming up next week and I enjoyed you video and would very much appreciate your input. Thank you in advance.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I’d go with the first one with the 12g of memory and single drive. I bough one with similar specs as the you you list from Amazon. It did have a video card upgrade and I have had no issues with it’s performance. You may get a little more battery life out of the laptop that has just the one drive. It may not be that noticeable. Personally I like the HP, Acer and Lenovo brands. I tend to shy away from Dell, fixed way to many for family and friends over the years

It's not clear why you'd go for either one. Where does the need for "fast processing speeds" come from? Without gaming, it wouldn't seem to matter a great amount (though graphics performance is often more important there).

Thank you, I DID order the 1st one with two drives. Lots of stuff loaded on that one for the price. HP site had some 17 processors instead of 15 for $200 more. I did not even realize but the one I ordered is a touchscreen also. Bonus.
