Sharepoint 2007 allows a used to create collumns that decribe documents. These collumns don't seem to be able to be used to describe folders. How can collumns be used to describe folder. If not by using collumns - is there another way? Bill

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Folders are basicaly just items with a content type that inherits from the Folder parent type.

To create a custom folder type that can include other fields, start by creating a new content type and make sure you inherit from the Folder content type. Add your fields as you would to any content type and add the new folder content type to your document library. You can safely remove the standard folder content type if you do not need it.

This is a very good idea. However, how can I change the content type of existing folders from standard folder content type to the new content type?
