I have shared files on a WAN. Can you tell which user viewed them?

It depends on whom you have sent or who have authentication to access your file.

Also, it is called a SAN/NAS. A WAN is a wide area network. What you are asking for is normally accessible to the administrator of the filer, not the customer. Now, if changes are made, than you can see who made those changes as the ownership of the file will have changed.

    With no info in the question about platform or OS, we have no idea what kind of access controls or auditing/logging you might have enabled. If you have any kind of auditing/logging of accesses set up, then whatever that is, it's where you'd look for reports of accesses.
