How to setup a virtual lab

Virtual lab
I have a Kali Linux laptop and I wish to set up a lab for pen testing. I'm going to install Windows XP on a VM (probably Virtualbox) but I also wish to test on generic access points. Is there a way to create a virtual victim access point in VB or do I have to invest in an exterior hardware access point? (Apologies if it's a stupid question, I'm new to this)

The simplest thing would be to buy a cheap AP or use one of your existing ones. A great exercise overall - good luck with it.
