I have a server 2000 machine that is the domain controller for our small network of 6. The licences on the server are 10 in number and we have only ever used 6. We have a several remote sites that dial in to the server in order for a program to dump data into a folder and disconect. As soon as the modem rings one of us loses our connection to the server. Please tell me why. E

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You did not provide enough information to give you a definite answer. Microsoft has different licenses, called CALs, such as per device, per user, per server. Everyone or computer that uses any services for the server requires a CAL. Depending on your CALs, each external dial in connection can require a separate CAL. So, you really need to check how your server is licensed, and how your external `connectors? are connecting to you system.

Let us know more information.
Best of luck
