Sending message to users?

Hello all, Sometimes that I want to send a message to all or several of users without using email service I use of this command :"net send * "message" but some of users says that they don't receive the message!!?? What's wrong?and is there any other service in windows for message? Thank you. ---- Regards Mahnaz

Are they XP users? Default setting for the Windows messenger service is disabled from Service Pack 1 or 2. Can’t remember which.

    The messenger services in win xp SP2 is disabled. U need to enable this or disable the firewall if u have the confidence that your network is secure. Normally this is not a good practice. How many desktops to need to reacha and the network topology. If you have different subnet u may not able to reach them Have a great day jay

    Hi I think you dont have to disable the firewall... u have to start the service for sure but along with it uhave got to enble file and print sharing and check the same in the firewall exceptions... Best regards Mithun
